Residential Construction Added to Expedited Building Plan Review Program
January 14, 2004
Fairfax County’s Department of Public Works and Environmental Services
yesterday announced a new, optional processing procedure for the review of
residential townhouses and detached single family homes. This new procedure
expedites the County’s review of qualified plans, as long as the plans
comply with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code.
Letter to Industry 04-01 (1/13/04) adds a separate processing procedure
to the Expedited Building Plan Review Program to speed up the process. A
County-designated residential peer-reviewer will review plans before they
are submitted to the County for permit issuance. If the peer-reviewer
recommends the plans for submission, the County will review the plans on a
priority basis, which should take around half the time.
In
order to get the recommendation of the peer reviewer, the plans must be
designed, signed, and sealed by an architect or professional engineer
registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
